In February 1976, Boz Scaggs released the Silk Degrees album. That's the cover art above. Treading the line between pop and R&B, one of the album's biggest tracks was the song "Lowdown." Released as a single in the summer of '76, it would peak at #3 on the Hot 100 over the week of October 8, 1977.

Today, UK house music act Disclosure have used that song as the basis of new track, "Expressing What Matters." It will be included on the duo's forthcoming EP, Ecstasy, due this Friday.

We really wanted to try to focus in on those wonderful backing vocals that permeate through the original and give it such soul. They ended up becoming the focal point of the entire track," the group shared in a press statement. "Bring chopped and skewed to their limit. The whole thing was one big audio science experiment for us.”

Listen to Disclosure's "Expressing What Matters," and Boz Scaggs' original "Lowdown" below.
