Bridgette Bryant is one phenomenal vocalist. She has spent quite some time providing back-up support for the cream of the crop - Stevie Wonder, Quincy Jones, Barbara Streisand, Phil Collins, and so many more. She has finally released her first full-length recording, SOULMATE COLLECTION. All her years of experience on stages and in studios have been summed up in this marvelous recording.
The introduction on the CD welcomes you to Bridgette's Boutique, and what a full marketplace it is. The mood is set, and once you are in, she doesn't let up until you've explored all her wares. Luxurious songs are here in abundance, covering all aspects of love from a very adult point of view -- something we seem to be sorely lacking in Soul music these days. Most of the songs on the recording were co-written by Ms. Bryant, and they are full of life's lessons and its consequential emotions. The production by Tracy Carter and musicianship throughout are top-notch.
The first single, which has a gorgeous video, is "Soft Place," one of the most sensuous songs to come along in some time. Bridgette's performance is captivating, intimate, and undeniably sexy.
One of the standouts is "Earth Keeps Spinning," an up-tempo number about unconditional love with a background flow that just grabs hold and doesn't let go. This is creativity at work.
"Key To My Heart" is a cover of The Emotions’ song from the classic REJOICE album. This number provides a remarkable showcase for Bridgette's vocal prowess, as she faithfully recreates the original harmonies. It is, at once, an homage and a work of art on its own.
The track "Rolling River God," written by Nichole Nordeman, is a gorgeous testimony -- a metaphysical exploration of life's blessings. Bridgette's tour-de-force performance, recorded live at The Agape International Spiritual Center, provides a most fitting conclusion to this journey. Her soaring voice and Ming Freeman's gentle accompaniment on piano are pure perfection.
All told, this recording gets the highest recommendation.
