JOE 2009 CD REVIEW
BY JEFF LOREZ COPYRIGHT (C) 2009 BY SOUL MUSIC.COM
Now a certified vet in the game, Joe has realized that his demographic is 35 plus, so instead of wearing jeans half-way down his back-side and doing songs with 50 Cent, this aptly titled collection, “Signature”, finds him in a 3-piece suit, with a collection of well crafted ballads and mid-tempos that are strong on melody, arrangement and lyric.

Despite a few also ran cuts (“Sex Girl” being the most obvious), this is Joe at his polished, soulful best and as such there are a few master strokes such as “Metaphor” and “Worst Case Scenario”. The remake of Marvin’s “Come Get To This” is unexpected but well delivered.
