Celebrating over four decades of recording, Freda Payne has earned a place in the annals of soul music not just for her longevity but for her multi-faceted artistry. At home with pop, jazz, R&B and dance music, the Detroit-born songstress may be best known for her early '70s Invictus hits yet her catalogue of recordings for such labels as MGM, ABC and Capitol have been the subject of reissue over the past few years - most notably with two albums from SoulMusic Records - "Stares And Whispers" in 2011 and now, in 2013, her second Capitol LP, "Supernatural High".
David Nathan used the occasion of this new reissue to catch up with the ever-delightful Freda as she shared seven songs from her own catalogue and three soul music favourites by others.
